ANEURISK
Our Story
Mission
Our mission is to provide insights to improve the clinical management of arterial aneurysms.

At Aneurisk, we believe no patient should suffer because of outdated, one-size-fits-all risk models. We aim to provide clinicians with personalized, science-backed insights that lead to smarter, life-saving decisions.
Vision
A future where every arterial aneurysm patient receives the right treatment at the right time.

We envision a healthcare system where artificial intelligence, biomechanics, and medical imaging work together seamlessly - helping doctors move beyond size-based thresholds and toward individualized care that saves lives.
History
Aneurisk was founded in 2023 to bring decades of research in vascular biomechanics to the front lines of patient care. At the core of the company’s mission is the pioneering work of Dr. David Vorp, whose research over the past 30 years has helped define how biomechanical forces influence the growth and rupture of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA). His early studies on aneurysm wall stress laid the scientific foundation for understanding that aneurysm size alone is an incomplete predictor of rupture risk.
Recognizing the need to translate this body of knowledge into a clinical tool, Dr. Vorp partnered with Dr. Timothy Chung, a bioengineer specializing in machine learning for vascular modeling, and Dr. Nathan Liang, a vascular surgeon at UPMC who sees firsthand the limitations of current size-based guidelines in managing AAA.
Today, most clinical decisions about AAA repair rely on a single metric - maximum aneurysm diameter - based on population averages. However, this approach often fails to capture the individualized nature of aneurysm behavior. Dr. Liang, in his surgical practice, encountered this disconnect regularly. With a shared commitment to improving outcomes for patients, the three co-founders launched Aneurisk to bridge the gap between research and practice, delivering a personalized, AI-powered solution that empowers physicians to assess rupture risk more accurately and confidently.
