AI-Backed Clinical Decision Making

Aneurysm Rupture is Often Fatal

An abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a ballooning of the aorta that will continue to grow. There are 200,000 diagnoses annually in the United States. Clinicians still use the outdated one-size-fits-all maximum diameter criterion to decide when to intervene. If the patients are below the threshold (5.0 cm for women and 5.5 cm for men), they will be monitored until they are offered surgical intervention. However, it has been reported that between 7-23.4% of aneurysms can rupture before this threshold, making AAA rupture the 13th leading cause of death in the United States.

Aneurisk Inc. is focused on changing the clinical management of aneurysms with artificial intelligence. Our team has developed an automated pipeline that utilizes medical images and patient clinical data to provide a comprehensive view of a patient's aneurysm to improve outcomes. Our clinical decision support tool could reduce surveillance intervals for imaging, reduce rupture events, identify high-risk aneurysms, and reduce unnecessary surgery.
